ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(14)H(13)N(2) (+)·Br(-), the 1-(4-cyano-benz-yl)-4-methyl-pyridinium cation has a Λ-shaped conformation, and the dihedral angle between the benzene and pyridinium rings is 75.8 (2)°. In the crystal, two cations form a dimer through π-π inter-actions between pyridine rings [the centroid-centroid distance is 3.685 (1) Å].

ABSTRACT: In the two-dimensional title coordination polymer, [Ni(C(8)H(3)BrO(4))(C(14)H(14)N(4))(H(2)O)](n), the Ni(II) atom adopts a distorted octa-hedral geometry, being ligated by three O atoms from two different 5-bromo-benzene-1,3-dicarboxyl-ate ligands, two N atoms from two 1,2-bis-(imidazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benzene ligands and one coordinated water mol-ecule. The Ni atoms are bridged by the 5-bromo-benzene-1,3-dicarboxyl-ate ligands, forming chains, which are further linked by 1,2-bis-(imidazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benzene, generating a layer structure parallel to (001).

ABSTRACT: Four new metal-organic frameworks [Cu2(2,2′-bipy)2(ox)(H2O)2]·(H2bptc) (1), [Cu(bptc)0.5(phen)(H2O)]·H2O (2), Co2(bptc)(bmb)1.5 (3) and [Cd2(bptc) (bmb)]·3H2O (4) (H4bptc = 3,3′,4,4′-biphenyltetracarboxylic acid, ox = oxalate, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, 2,2′-bipy = 2,2′-bipyridine and bmb = 4,4′-bis((1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl)biphenyl), were obtained by reactions of the corresponding metal salts with H4bptc and N-containing auxiliary ligands and their structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The results reveal that 1 has a 0-D structure consisting of discrete ionic entities, while 2 features a 1-D ladder structure. Additionally, there exist π-π stacking and intermolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions in 1 and 2, respectively, forming 3-D supramolecular structures. In 3-4, undulating 2-D metal-bptc layer structures are formed with two different coordination modes of bptc carboxylate groups, respectively, which are further extended by bmb into 3-D structures. Magnetic properties of 1 and 3 have been studied. The photoluminescence property of 4 has also been investigated. Moreover, nonlinear optical measurements showed that 4 displayed a second-harmonic-generation (SHG) response of 0.7 times of that for urea.

ABSTRACT: AbstractA novel 3D coordination polymer Eu2(PDC)3(H2O)3 (1) has been synthesized by hydrothermal reaction of europium chloride with 3,5-pyridinedicarboxylate acid (H2PDC) under acidic condition (pH 2–3). Complex 1 is a 3D coordination polymer via 1D infinite chains built by the pyridinium moieties of the PDC2− anions. The thermal analyses and luminescent properties of 1 have also been investigated.
