However, users have intellectual problems since they need a certain command of different languages to find publications whose records are written in a unique language. Multilingual facilities and, particularly, multilingual presentation and retrieval, can intellectually open the library catalogue to a wider range of international users. The present paper describes an attempt at using multilingual resources with a view to improving the user-OPAC interaction through the TRANSLIB project and its integration at «Biblioteca Hispánica de la Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional», which provides library users with advanced tools that support multilingual access.Las redes telemáticas y los protocolos estándar para el intercambio de información facilitan el acceso a bibliotecas geográficamente dispersas. Sin embargo, sus usuarios continúan teniendo problemas de tipo intelectual, especialmente al tratar de localizar publicaciones cuyos registros no están escritos en su lengua materna. Los servicios multilingües, aplicados en particular a la presentación y la recuperación, facilitan el acceso al catálogo de la biblioteca a un público internacional. Este artículo describe el empleo de recursos multilingües para mejorar la interacción del usuario con el OPAC a través del proyecto TRANSLIB y de su integración en la Biblioteca Hispánica de la Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional.
