    ABSTRACT: The present work analyses the population behavior of Compsocerus violaceus (White, 1853) (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae), related to the fauna of cerambicideos, collected in conserved and rio tangerine, baianinha and natal orange, tangor sabará and cravo lemon. The collections were carried out fortnightly, using a plastic bait trap with 20% molasses. The baits were replaced every two weeks. The collection period ranged from August/1983 to JuIy/1985. The ecological parameters studied included the relative abundance, constancy, frequency and dominance. The influence of some meteorological factors over the species population was also investigated. In the abandoned yard 405 adults were collected, comprising 180 males and 225 females, and in the conserved yard, 253 adults were collected, comprising 96 males and 163 females. From the total insects collected, 39% were from the conserved yard, while 61% came from the abandoned yard. The period showing the highest occurrence was the one comprising the months of November and December, in both yards. No correlation between meteorological factors and species fluctuation could be detected. Among the ecological parameters analyzed, C. violaceus was classified as “common and very abundant”, “accidental and constant”. C. violaceus showed a frequency of 10,31% among the collected species, and was considered “dominant” in both yards, obtaining the classification of Dorcacerus barbatus, Macropophora accentifer, Acathoderes jaspidea, Chlorida festiva and Trachyderes spp., all recognized as dangerous species with a remarkable economic importance for the Brazilian fruit-bearing plants.     ABSTRACT: The population fluctuation of Euphoria lurida was studied in a mixed citric yard, abandoned and composed by the varieties of baianinha and natal oranges, cravo and rio tangerine, tangor-sabará, and cravo lemon. Adult insects were collected using a plastic bait trap with 20% sugar-cane molasses. The collections were carried out every two weeks, when the baits were also replaced. Samples were undertaken in the period between January/94 to December/86. 716 adult insects were collected in such period and specie occurrence was verified during all months of the year. The highest population averages were observed during January, February and December, while the lowest occurrences happened in June and July. The highest population peak was observed in January, in the third year of collection. 21.4%, 28.8% and 49.8% of the adult insects were collected respectively, in the first, second and third years. An elevated food availability, caused by the high number of dropped fruits on the ground, was the main cause for the population raise observed during the last year of collection. Abandoned yards, specially those presenting a high amount of dropped fruits on the ground, propitiate the necessary conditions for the rapid population raise of the specie. Such increased population can migrate to productive citric yards causing serious damage, since they attack the flowers and lead to the fall of petals and growing fruits.

    ABSTRACT: O trabalho foi desenvolvido no Laboratório de Entomologia da Escola de Agronomia da Universidade Federal de Goiás, em condições controladas de temperatura (25+2ºC), umidade relativa (40+10%) e fotofase de 13h, com o objetivo de estudar o efeito das cultivares Emgopa 316, FT-Estrela, IAC 100 e IAC 17, no desenvolvimento de Anticarsia gemmatalis. Foram observadas a duração do período larval, o tamanho e o peso de lagartas e peso de pupas. Na cultivar Emgopa 316, as larvas apresentaram uma diminuição no período larval e um aumento nos pesos larval e pupal, enquanto IAC 100 mostrou alguma evidência de antibiose, aumentando o período larval e diminuindo o peso de lagartas e de pupas.     ABSTRACT: The preference for oviposition and/or alimentation was observed in Macropophora accentifer females in a mixed yard, composed by cravo and rio tangerines, baianinha and natal oranges, tangor sabará and cravo lemon. The plants were 5 to 20 years old, and the yard was abandoned and cultivated with a distance of 10m between plants. The females were labeled with dye ink in the pronotum region. Manual collection, labeling, release and recapture were carried out in September/October/November, and in March/April/May. A total of 231 females insects were collected in each variety, labeled and immediately released in different varieties, including those who collected firstly. The recaptures were carried out twelve days after each release; 30 releases and 50 recaptures were performed. The preference was determined considering the number of female insects that remained, returned or migrated to each one of the citrus varieties. It was observed that 2.16% of the females returned to the varieties where they were previously collected, 59.31% remained in the variety where they were released, 30.74% migrated to different varieties, and 7.79% were not recaptured. The cravo tangerine presented 46.75% of preference, followed by tangor sabará with 16.88%, baianinha orange with 10.82%, natal orange with 9.95% and rio tangerine with 7.8%. Cravo lemon did not present any preference by the insect females.

    ABSTRACT: Estudou-se no presente trabalho a biologia da Cycloneda sanguinea (L.), utilizando como presa afídeos do gênero Dactynotus sp. As observações foram realizadas no Laboratório de Entomologia do Departamento Fitossanitário - EA/UFG, com temperatura e umidade relativa média de 23°C e 79,4%, respectivamente. Os estudos foram iniciados com larvas oriundas das posturas coletadas no campo. O período de incubação observado foi de três dias e a viabilidade de 86%. O período larval foi de 9,43 dias, a duração média de cada instar foi de 2,43, 1,57, 1,86 e 3,57 dias, respectivamente, para 1°, 2°, 3° e 4° instar. O período de pré-pupa e pupa foram de 0,86 e 4,14 dias, respectivamente. O ciclo biológico larva/adulto foi de 14,43 dias. As larvas apresentaram um consumo diário médio de 14,6 pulgões e durante todo o período larval de 137,76 pulgões, observando-se um aumento de consumo do primeiro para o quarto estágio.
