ABSTRACT: In order to ensure the optimum allocation of resources, the collecting and aggregating information among management computers, power apparatus, communication devices, transmission lines and so on in electrical network will grow more and more important. In this paper, the management system enable exchange and readily use information securely and effectively between two or more networks, systems, devices, applications, or components, and with little or no inconvenience to the user. This management system is based on the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and implements the classical management functions of configuration, fault, account performance and security management. We expand MIB resources by defining MIB objects to monitor the resources of sever, and use multi-threading technology to collect data and process them, which can improve the collection efficiency.

ABSTRACT: All-optic scheme for polarization multiplexed system de-multiplexing were implemented with high-speed and precise optical polarization tracking based on power difference. Stable polarization demultiplexing with 800rad/s polarization scrambling for 112Gb/s direct detection PM-RZ-DQPSK transmission over 960km was demonstrated.

ABSTRACT: In high-speed optical transmission communication systems PMD compensation is crucial and it is challenging to establish an efficient compensator. We demonstrate an optical polarization mode compensation (PMC) system with logical controlling unit based on DSP and CPLD platform. The PMD compensation platform we designed implements with some high-speed control components which shorten the compensation time to nearly 100 microseconds per loop. Utilizing the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm the whole system could complete the first-stage and second-stage PMD compensation.

ABSTRACT: This paper presents a new ray tracing method, which contains a whole set of mathematic models, and its validity is verified by simulations. In addition, both theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the computational complexity of the method is much lower than that of previous ones. Therefore, the method can be used to rapidly calculate the impulse response of wireless optical channels for complicated systems.

ABSTRACT: Polarization-multiplexed DQPSK signals were implemented with high-speed and precise optical polarization compensation. In this paper we analyze the performance of MLSE combined with FFE receivers in reducing the CD and PMD. We investigate equalization over buried fibers having CD up to 3200 ps/nm, PMD up to 45 ps. This equals a distance beyond 200 km and thus increases the uncompensated transmission distance in applications like metro networks.

ABSTRACT: Polarization mode dispersion (PMD) causes time and channel dependent pulse distortions in high-speed optical fiber communication systems and limits their transmission capacity. This paper describes an adaptive PMD monitoring and compensation scheme. A PMD online monitoring unit was designed and implemented. An asynchronous mechanism of high speed analog to digital conversion was proposed and realized high speed monitoring of degree of polarization (DOP). The technique of automatic gain control was adopted and expanded the subject power range of the input optical signal. The experiment results showed that the adaptive PMD compensation system could compensate 1st order and 2nd order PMD simultaneity. The adaptive range of input optical power was -16~0 Bm.

ABSTRACT: An universal digital signal processing (DSP) application for adaptive polarization mode compensation (PMD) compensation was demonstrated in optical transmission systems. In high-speed optical fiber communication systems, it is important to compensate the PMD effectively due to the time-varying and statistical properties of PMD. We designed a low power-consume DSP-based integrated control system to complete first-order PMD and second-order PMD compensation. The searching process and the tracking process for automatic PMD compensation could be completed in less than 10 ms and 1 ms by using DPSO algorithm.

ABSTRACT: We propose a bidirectional reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA) based wavelength-division-multiplexing passive optical network (WDM-PON) utilizing a differential phase shift keying (DPSK) signal for down-link and an on-off keying (OOK) signal re-modulated for up-link with high extinction-ratio in both directions. A 20 km range colorless WDM-PON without dispersion compensation was demonstrated within low penalty for both 10 Gbit/s downstream and 5 Gbit/s upstream signals. We investigate the impacts of wavelength and the injection power to the RSOA on upstream data. The BER performances of our scheme show that the performance of our scheme is as good as those in case of continuous wave (CW) light injected RSOA. So our scheme is a practical solution to meet the data rate and cost-efficient of the optical links simultaneously in tomorrow's WDM-PON access networks.

ABSTRACT: This paper demonstrates a universal digital signal processing (DSP) application for adaptive polarization mode compensation (PMD) compensation in optical fiber communication systems. Because PMD possesses the time-varying and statistical properties, especially in high-speed optical fiber communication systems, to establish an effective logic control compensator is important and challenging. We designed a low power-consume DSP-based integrated control system to complete first-order PMD and second-order PMD compensation. The experiment results showed that this system uses much less time on the compensation process.
