    ABSTRACT: In a double blind randomized study during a period of 2 weeks we compared the therapeutic effectiveness and side effects of IK-6-Inhaletten (0.1 mg Fenoterol + 0.04 mg Ipratropiumbromide) and SCH 1000-Inhaletten (0.2 mg Ipratropiumbromide) in 39 children (4-14 years) suffering from mild, moderate or severe asthma bronchiale. All measurements were performed with a whole body plethysmograph. In contrast to SCH 1000-inhalation after inhalation of IK-6-Inhaletten, we found a good improvement of the total airway resistance Rtot, the specific airway resistance SRaw and the forced exspiratory volume FEV1. Especially SRaw was significantly diminished compared to the less effective SCH 1000-inhalation. IK-6-inhalation allowed to decrease the amount of bronchospasmolytic therapy in our group of patients. We did not observe any severe side effects after inhalation of IK-6 or SCH 1000. In summary, we recommend the application of the IK-6-Inhaletten in children suffering from mild and moderate asthma bronchiale.

  • Article: Neutron scattering and crystal fields in Pr-hydrides

    ABSTRACT: The crystal field splittings of PrD2 and PrD2.5 have been determined by inelastic neutron scattering. While for PrD2 the crystal field experienced by the majority of Pr-ions is cubic, it is shown that in PrD2.5 the occupation of the octahedral interstitials occurs not in a statistical but rather in a well defined way which leads to an orthorhombic crystal field at the Pr-site.

    Article: Crystal field in ErMg, ErPd and related compounds

    ABSTRACT: The crystal field parameters have been determined in the cubic equiatomic compounds ErMg and ErPd by neutron spectroscopy, and by measuring the magnetocrystalline anisotropy of ErMg. The variation of the crystal field parameters, in these compounds and isomorphous ErM compounds previously studied, is analyzed as a function of the valency of M. The behaviour of A4 < r4 > seems to reflect the progressive localization of d electrons in the alloyed transition metal. This parameter changes its sign in ErMg, where it turns positive. The A6 < r 6 > term remains negative and of same order of magnitude in all compounds; its origin is still not understood. Nous avons déterminé les paramètres de champ cristallin dans les composés cubiques ErMg et ErPd par spectroscopie neutronique, et pax mesure de l'anisotropie magnétocristalline de ErMg. Nous analysons la variation des paramètres dans ces composés et les composés ErM isomorphes précédemment étudiés, en fonction de la valence de l'élément M. L'évolution du paramètre A4 < r4 > semble refléter la localisation progressive des électrons d des métaux de transition alliés. Ce paramètre change de signe dans ErMg, où il devient positif. Le terme A6 < r6 > reste négatif et du même ordre de grandeur dans tous les composés ; son origine est encore mal comprise.

    Article: Crystal fields and magnetic properties of NdSn3, NdPb 3 and Ndin3

    ABSTRACT: Inelastic neutron scattering experiments have been performed on the intermetallic compounds NdPb3 and NdSn3. Well resolved transitions between crystal field levels were observed at different temperatures and for each compound, two level schemes were possible. Magnetic measurements and elastic neutron scattering experiments were performed to remove this uncertainty. The experimental crystal field parameters deviate considerably from point charge estimates. Nous avons réalisé des expériences de diffusion inélastique des neutrons sur les composés intermétalliques NdPb3 et NdSn3. Nous avons observé des transitions bien résolues entre niveaux de champ cristallin à différentes températures. Deux schémas de champ cristallin sont possibles pour chaque composé. Des mesures magnétiques et des expériences de diffraction neutronique permettent de lever cette indétermination. Les paramètres de champ cristallin obtenus diffèrent beaucoup des prévisions d'un modèle de charges ponctuelles.
