Article: Synthesis, characterization, x-ray structure, and mixed-valence states of trans-dichlorotin(IV)-5,10,15,20-tetraferrocenylporphyrin.
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: Reaction between H2TFcP (TFcP2- is a dianion of 5,10,15,20-tetraferrocenylporphyrin) with Sn(II) chloride gave the trans-Cl2SnTFcP complex, which was characterized by UV-visible, MCD, 1H and 13C NMR, and APCI MS methods. X-ray single crystal anal. was used to det. the structure of the target compd. Crystallog. reveals a very unusual α,α,β,β-conformation of the ferrocene groups and largely planar structure of the porphyrin macrocycle. D. functional theory calcns. predict that the HOMO in trans-Cl2SnTFcP is predominantly ferrocene centered, while LUMO is primarily localized over the porphyrin core. Redox properties of the trans-Cl2SnTFcP complex were studied using electrochem. (CV and DPV), spectroelectrochem., and chem. oxidn. approaches. Electrochem. expts. conducted in low-polarity solvent using noncoordinating electrolyte reveal the sequential oxidn. of ferrocene substituents along with porphyrin-based single-electron oxidn. and redn. processes. The 1st ferrocene oxidn. process is sepd. byJournal of Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines 01/2011; 15(7-8):612-621. · 1.40 Impact Factor -

[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: Molecular structure, redox, and unexpected fluorescence properties of a tetraphenylporphyrin tin(iv) complex axially sigma-bonded with two ferrocene substituents were investigated using UV-vis, MCD, electro- and spectroelectrochemical methods as well as DFT calculations and X-ray crystallography.Chemical Communications 09/2010; 46(35):6581-3. · 6.17 Impact Factor
