Conference Proceeding: Measurement of excitation functions for proton induced nuclear reactions on natW
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: We measured the excitation functions for the production of the 181,182 m,182 g,183 m,184 g,186Re radioisotopes from proton bombardment of natural tungsten by using a stacked-foil activation technique in the energy range from threshold energy to 40 MeV at the MC50 cyclotron of the Korea Institute of Radiological and Medical Science. The results were compared with the earlier reported experimental data and the model calculations using codes TALYS and ALICE-IPPE. The present values are in good agreement with some of the previously reported literature. The integral yields for thick targets were also deduced from the measured excitation functions of the produced radioisotopes. The deduced yields were compared with the available directly measured thick target yield, and found acceptable agreement. The investigated radioisotope 186Re has remarkable applications in the field of nuclear medicine, whereas the data of 183,184 gRe have potential applications in thin layer activation analysis and biomedical tracer studies.Nuclear Science Symposium Conference Record, 2007. Article: Measurement of the neutron total cross sections of Ta and Mo and proton induced reaction cross sections of natMo
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: The Pohang Neutron Facility based on an electron linear accelerator was operated for the neutron total cross section measurements by using the pulsed neutrons produced in a water-cooled Ta-target with a water moderator. The neutron total cross sections of Ta and Mo were measured in the neutron energy region from 0.01 eV to 100-200 eV by using the time-of-flight method. A 6LiZnS(Ag) glass scintillator with a diameter of 12.5 cm and a thickness of 1.6 cm was used as a neutron detector. The neutron flight path from the water-cooled Ta target to the neutron detector was 12.1 m. The background level was determined by using notch-filters of Co, In, Ta, and Cd sheets. In order to reduce the gamma rays from Bremsstrahlung and those from neutron capture, we employed a neutron-gamma separation system based on their different pulse shapes. The present measurements of Ta and Mo are in general agreement with the evaluated data in ENDF/B-VI. Cross sections for residual radio-nuclide production by proton-induced reactions on natural molybdenum were measured from their respective threshold energies to 42 MeV by using the MC-50 cyclotron at KIRAMS. The activation method and a stacked-foil technique using high-resolution HPGe gamma-ray spectrometry were applied to determine the excitation functions. The reactions induced on Al and Cu foils were used to monitor the parameters of the proton beam. The present results are in generally good agreement with the earlier reported data and with the calculations based on the ACILE-IPPE code.http://dx.doi.org/10.1051/ndata:07739. -
Article: Cyclotron production of the 105,106mAg, 100,101Pd, 100,101m,105Rh radionuclides by natPd(p,x) nuclear processes
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: Production cross-sections of the 105g+m,106mAg, 100,101Pd, and 100g+m,101m,105g+mRh radionuclides through proton-induced reactions on natural palladium were measured up to 40 MeV by using a stacked-foil activation technique combined with high-resolution γ-ray spectrometry. The production cross-sections of 101Pd and 100g+m,105g+mRh radionuclides have been reported here for the first time from the natPd(p,x) nuclear processes. The present results are compared with the available literature values as well as the theoretical data calculated by the TALYS and the ALICE-IPPE computer codes. A quantitative comparison of the present results with the theoretical data has also been done with several deviation factor definitions. Optimal production pathways of the therapeutic 105gRh radionuclide with minimal contamination using cyclotrons are discussed elaborately.Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms. -
Article: Production cross-sections of residual radionuclides from proton-induced reactions on natAg up to 40MeV
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: We measured the cross-sections of the 104g,105,106mAg and 104,107Cd radionuclides produced by proton-induced reactions on natural silver by using a stacked-foil activation technique in the energy range from a threshold energy to 40 MeV at a MC50 cyclotron. The results showed generally good agreement with available data as well as the theoretical data. The integral yields for thick targets were also deduced using the measured cross-sections and the stopping power of natAg over the energy range from a threshold energy to 40 MeV, taking into account that the total energy is absorbed in the targets. The production cross-sections for the 104gAg and the 104Cd radionuclides from natural silver were measured for the first time.Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms. -

[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: We have measured the production cross-sections of the residual radionuclides for proton-induced reactions on natural tin by using a stacked-foil activation technique in the energy range from threshold energy to 40 MeV at the MC-50 cyclotron of the Korea Institute of Radiological and Medical Sciences. The results were compared with the earlier reported experimental data and theoretical calculations based on the TALYS and the ALICE-IPPE codes. The present results are in general good agreement with the available literature data and calculated results by using the computer codes TALYS and ALICE-IPPE. The thick target integral yields were also deduced from the measured excitation functions of the produced radionuclides.Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms.
