ABSTRACT: Common atrioventricular canal (CAVC) is a common congenital heart lesion resulting from a defect in development of the endocardial cushions during early embryogenesis. Depending on the type of defect, CAVC can encompass a spectrum of lesions ranging from partial atrioventricular (AV) canal to complete AV canal. We describe a case of CAVC with unique anatomy in a 4-month-old male infant with Down syndrome.

ABSTRACT: In this report, we present our experience with successful pulmonary valve repair for pulmonary regurgitation in a 15-year-old patient who had undergone percutaneous pulmonary balloon valvuloplasty for pulmonary stenosis in the neonatal period. The pathological findings and the technique of repair are described in detail as the number of such patients is expected to increase in future.

ABSTRACT: A 4(1/2)-month-old patient who underwent mitral valve replacement for congenital mitral stenosis using a pulmonary autograft is reported. Failure of the autograft resulted in pulmonary hypertension, leading to pulmonary regurgitation in the reconstructed right ventricular outflow tract, then tricuspid regurgitation, refractory right heart failure, and death. Caution should be exercised in applying this procedure with children, particularly those at risk for pulmonary hypertension.
