ABSTRACT: We present an analysis of the decays B{0}-->K{*0}(892)gamma and B{+}-->K{*+}(892)gamma using a sample of about 383 x 10{6} BB[-over ] events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric energy B factory. We measure the branching fractions B(B{0}-->K{*0}gamma)=(4.47+/-0.10+/-0.16) x 10{-5} and B(B{+}-->K{*+}gamma)=(4.22+/-0.14+/-0.16) x 10{-5}. We constrain the direct CP asymmetry to be -0.033<A(B-->K{*}gamma)<0.028 and the isospin asymmetry to be 0.017<Delta{0-} < 0.116, where the limits are determined by the 90% confidence interval and include both the statistical and systematic uncertainties.

ABSTRACT: We have performed a search for the eta_{b}(1S) meson in the radiative decay of the Upsilon(2S) resonance using a sample of 91.6x10(6) Upsilon(2S) events recorded with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B factory at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. We observe a peak in the photon energy spectrum at Egamma=609.3(-4.5)(+4.6)(stat)+/-1.9(syst) MeV, corresponding to an eta(b)(1S) mass of 9394.2(-4.9)(+4.8)(stat)+/-2.0(syst) MeV/c2. The branching fraction for the decay Upsilon(2S)-->gamma(eta)b(1S) is determined to be [3.9+/-1.1(stat)-0.9+1.1(syst)]x10(-4). We find the ratio of branching fractions B[Upsilon(2S)-->gamma(eta)b(1S)]/B[Upsilon(3S)-->gamma(eta)b(1S)]=0.82+/-0.24(stat)(-0.19)(+0.20)(syst).

ABSTRACT: We report the observation of the baryonic B-decay
B¯0→Λc+p¯K-π+,
excluding contributions from the decay
B¯0→Λc+Λ¯K-.
Using a data sample of 467×106 BB¯ pairs collected
with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II storage ring at SLAC, the measured
branching fraction is
(4.33±0.82stat±0.33syst±1.13Λc+)×10-5.
In addition we find evidence for the resonant decay
B¯0→Σc(2455)++p¯K-
and determine its branching fraction to be
(1.11±0.30stat±0.09syst±0.29Λc+)×10-5.
The errors are statistical, systematic, and due to the uncertainty in
the Λc+ branching fraction. For the
resonant decay
B¯0→Λc+p¯K¯*0
we obtain an upper limit of 2.42×10-5 at 90% confidence
level.

ABSTRACT: We search for evidence of a light scalar boson in the radiative decays of the Upsilon(2S) and Upsilon(3S) resonances: Upsilon(2S,3S)-->gammaA0, A0-->mu+mu-. Such a particle appears in extensions of the standard model, where a light CP-odd Higgs boson naturally couples strongly to b quarks. We find no evidence for such processes in the mass range 0.212 < or = mA0 < or = 9.3 GeV in the samples of 99 x 10(6) Upsilon(2S) and 122 x 10(6) Upsilon(3S) decays collected by the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II B factory and set stringent upper limits on the effective coupling of the b quark to the A0. We also limit the dimuon branching fraction of the etab meson: B(etab-->mu+mu-)<0.9% at 90% confidence level.

ABSTRACT: We present a study of B decays into semileptonic final states containing charged and neutral D1(2420) and D_{2};{*}(2460). The analysis is based on a data sample of 208 fb;{-1} collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at SLAC. With a simultaneous fit to four different decay chains, the semileptonic branching fractions are extracted from measurements of the mass difference Deltam=m(D;{**})-m(D) distributions. Product branching fractions are determined to be B(B;{+}-->D_{1};{0}l;{+}nu_{l})xB(D_{1};{0}-->D;{*+}pi;{-})=(2.97+/-0.17+/-0.17)x10;{-3}, B(B;{+}-->D_{2};{*0}l;{+}nu_{l})xB(D_{2};{*0}-->D;{(*)+}pi;{-})=(2.29+/-0.23+/-0.21)x10;{-3}, B(B;{0}-->D_{1};{-}l;{+}nu_{l})xB(D_{1};{-}-->D;{*0}pi;{-})=(2.78+/-0.24+/-0.25)x10;{-3} and B(B;{0}-->D_{2};{*-}l;{+}nu_{l})xB(D_{2};{*-}-->D;{(*)0}pi;{-})=(1.77+/-0.26+/-0.11)x10;{-3}. ABSTRACT: We search for the neutrinoless, lepton-flavor-violating tau decays tau- -->l-}V0, where l is an electron or muon and V0 is a vector meson reconstructed as phi-->K+K-, rho-->pi+pi-, K-->K+pi-, K[over ]-->K-pi+. The analysis has been performed using 451 fb-1 of data collected at an e+e- center-of-mass energy near 10.58 GeV with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II storage rings. ABSTRACT: We present a measurement of the B0→Λ̅ pπ- branching fraction performed using the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric e+e- collider. Based on a sample of 467×106 BB̅ pairs we measure B(B0→Λ̅ pπ-)=[3.07±0.31 (stat)±0.23 (syst)]×10-6. The measured differential spectrum as a function of the dibaryon invariant mass m(Λ̅ p) shows a near-threshold enhancement similar to that observed in other baryonic B decays. We study the Λ̅ polarization as a function of Λ̅ energy in the B0 rest frame (EΛ̅ *) and compare it with theoretical expectations of fully longitudinally right-polarized Λ̅ at large EΛ̅ *.

The data sample consists of 232×106 Υ(4S)→BB̅ decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- collider. We select events with a D or D* meson and a light lepton (ℓ=e or μ) recoiling against a fully reconstructed B meson. We perform a fit to the joint distribution of lepton momentum and missing mass squared to distinguish signal B̅ →D(*)τ-ν̅ τ(τ-→ℓ-ν̅ ℓντ) events from the backgrounds, predominantly B̅ →D(*)ℓ-ν̅ ℓ. We measure the branching-fraction ratios R(D)≡B(B̅ →Dτ-ν̅ τ)/B(B̅ →Dℓ-ν̅ ℓ) and R(D*)≡B(B̅ →D*τ-ν̅ τ)/B(B̅ →D*ℓ-ν̅ ℓ) and, from a combined fit to B- and B̅ 0 channels, obtain the results R(D)=(41.6±11.7±5.2)% and R(D*)=(29.7±5.6±1.8)%, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic. Normalizing to measured B-→D(*)0ℓ-ν̅ ℓ branching fractions, we obtain B(B̅ →Dτ-ν̅ τ)=(0.86±0.24±0.11±0.06)% and B(B̅ →D*τ-ν̅ τ)=(1.62±0.31±0.10±0.05)%, where the additional third uncertainty is from the normalization mode. We also present, for the first time, distributions of the lepton momentum, |pℓ*|, and the squared momentum transfer, q2.

ABSTRACT: We present improved measurements of the branching fraction B, the longitudinal polarization fraction f{L}, and the direct CP asymmetry A{CP} in the B meson decay channel B;{+}-->rho;{+}rho;{0}. The data sample was collected with the BABAR detector at SLAC. The results are B(B;{+}-->rho;{+}rho;{0})=(23.7+/-1.4+/-1.4) x 10;{-6}, f{L}=0.950+/-0.015+/-0.006, and A{CP}=-0.054+/-0.055+/-0.010, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Based on these results, we perform an isospin analysis and determine the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa phase angle alpha=arg(-V{td}V{tb};/V{ud}V{ub}) to be (92.4{-6.5};{+6.0}) degrees.

ABSTRACT: We present updated measurements of time-dependent CP asymmetries in fully reconstructed neutral B decays containing a charmonium meson. The measurements reported here use a data sample of (465±5)×106 Υ(4S)→BB̅ decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric energy e+e- storage rings operating at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. The time-dependent CP asymmetry parameters measured from JψKS0, JψKL0, ψ(2S)KS0, ηcKS0, χc1KS0, and J/ψK*(892)0 decays are: Cf=0.024±0.020(stat)±0.016(syst) and -ηfSf=0.687±0.028(stat)±0.012(syst).

ABSTRACT: We measure branching fractions and integrated rate asymmetries for the rare decays B-->K(*)l+l-, where l+l- is either e+e- or micro+micro-, using a sample of 384x10(6) BB events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- collider. We find no evidence for direct CP or lepton-flavor asymmetries. However, for dilepton masses below the J/psi resonance, we find evidence for unexpectedly large isospin asymmetries in both B-->Kl+l- and B-->K*l+l- which differ, respectively, by 3.2sigma and 2.7sigma, including systematic uncertainties, from the standard model expectations.

ABSTRACT: Using a sample of 383 x 10;{6} BB[over ] events collected by the BABAR experiment, we measure sums of seven exclusive final states B-->X_{d(s)}gamma, where X_{d}(X_{s}) is a nonstrange (strange) charmless hadronic system in the mass range 0.6-1.8 GeV/c;{2}. After correcting for unmeasured decay modes in this mass range, we obtain a branching fraction for b-->dgamma of (7.2+/-2.7(stat)+/-2.3(syst))x10;{-6}. Taking the ratio of X_{d} to X_{s} we find Gamma(b-->dgamma)/Gamma(b-->sgamma)=0.033+/-0.013(stat)+/-0.009(syst), from which we determine |V_{td}/V_{ts}|=0.177+/-0.043.

ABSTRACT: We present measurements of B meson decays to the final states ωK*, ωρ, and ωf0, where K* indicates a spin 0, 1, or 2 strange meson. The data sample corresponds to 465×106 BB̅ pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- collider at SLAC. B meson decays involving vector-scalar, vector-vector, and vector-tensor final states are analyzed; the latter two shed new light on the polarization of these final states. We measure the branching fractions for nine of these decays; five are observed for the first time. For most decays we also measure the charge asymmetry and, where relevant, the longitudinal polarization fL.

ABSTRACT: We present measurements of the time-dependent CP-violation parameters S and C in the decays B0→ωKS0, B0→η′K0, reconstructed as η′KS0 and η′KL0, and B0→π0KS0. The data sample corresponds to the full BABAR dataset of 467×106 BB̅ pairs produced at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. The results are SωKS0=0.55-0.29+0.26±0.02, CωKS0=-0.52-0.20+0.22±0.03, Sη′K0=0.57±0.08±0.02, Cη′K0=-0.08±0.06±0.02, Sπ0KS0=0.55±0.20±0.03, and Cπ0KS0=0.13±0.13±0.03, where the first errors are statistical and the second systematic. These results are consistent with our previous measurements and the world average of sin2β measured in B0→J/ψKS0.
