  • Conference Proceeding: A model of flexible exception handing facilitated by polices and contracts
    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: Due to the dynamic nature of virtual organization (VO), it is necessary that multi-agent system aimed to form and operate VO should be robust in cooperating process. We present a model of flexible exception handling facilitated by polices and contracts, in which the flexible evolvement process of exception handling is divided into three phases: exception analysis, plan generation, and plan deployment. On the one hand, contract signed by cooperative partners describes the cooperation process of the partners, and on the other hand, policies can be used to describe the way to handle exception happened during cooperating process. The three phrases and the import of polices makes the exception handling process more flexible, thus makes the MAS more robust.

ABSTRACT: Web service is an important technology in open distributed system. But because of the dynamical and heterogeneous nature of Web services, it is difficult to be managed directly. On the other hand, multi-agent system provides a model for automatic discovery, negotiation and cooperation. It can be designed as a container of Web services for autonomic management. This paper provides a policy-driven model based on multi-agent system that encapsulates the Web service as an agent. It can supervise the dynamical agents and Web services that may join in or leave out at run time according to high-level policies or business requirements

ABSTRACT: Policy-driven system is a new research point. The system can gain autonomous ability through policy. In this paper, we present a system of policy-driven agent social, called PDAS4, which emphases on impose the policy-driven mechanism into multi-agents system, provides a platform to autonomous control the whole process of agent social activities. The main point of this paper is to propose an approach of policy-driven mechanism to control the cooperation and service execution of agents. In addition, an implementation of this system was developed and a simulated test was conducted successfully.

ABSTRACT: EbXML is an emerging and ambitious B2B e-commerce standard with the potential to become a significant player in the next few years. Although a lot of projects have been developed to implement ebXML-based business process, no project can solve the problem of autonomic control the whole process of ebXML-based business process. In this paper, we provide a policy-driven agent social, which provide a platform to autonomic control the whole process of ebXML-based business process. The main point of this paper is to propose policy-driven method to autonomic control the agent in agent social. Agent social is composed of agent federation. Agent federation as representation of enterprise trades with other enterprise. In addition, an agent infrastructure to realize this system was developed and a simulated test was conducted successfully.

    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: The emergence and the development of OGSA compliant grid provide powerful means for the integration and interaction of applications (grid services) within a virtual organization (VO). However, it is still a challenge to control the composition, transaction, and coordination, of grid services, according to the dynamic business requirements of a VO. Based on the policy-based management and autonomous intelligent agents, this paper proposes a framework for OGSA-compliant grid control. In this system, individual agent (task agent) is in charge of composing grid services and taking part in the social interactions within a VO. Several task agents and a management agent (MA) form a VO. The business requirements or user's preferences are represented as policies, which are used to control the behaviors of agents.

    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: Presently, resource sharing and integration within or cross enterprises (organizations) based on Web services, semantic Web and agents, are developing rapidly. However, different level of requirements of enterprise applications, and dynamic nature of Web services and application requirements, result in increasing complexities of management of Web services and related agents. This paper proposes a federated multi-agent system for autonomic Web services control. The main point of this paper is to propose an approach based on hierarchical architecture-oriented agent federations to control the internal cooperation and external coordination and transaction of Web services. In addition, an agent infrastructure to realize this system was developed and a simulated test was conducted successfully.

    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: A fundamental task in multi-agent systems is matchmaking, which is to retrieve and classify service descriptions of agents that (best) meet a given service request. In this paper, we present ontology based on agent services compatible matchmaking mechanism for multi-agent system. Based on description of domain ontology by domain conceptization language (DCL) and description of services advertisement and request by services description language (SDL), middle agent provides mediate services for service provider and service requester by three kinds of compatible matchmaking strategies, i.e. the classifying matching, the parameter matching and the constraint matching. The matchmaking process of agent services is discussed in an example. After analysis and evaluation, this paper gives a conclusion.

ABSTRACT: Autonomic computing is a computing system that can manage itself by self-configuration, self-healing, self-optimization and self-protection. With the nature of autonomy, reactivity, sociality, and pro-activity, software agents are promising to make autonomic computing system a reality. We present our approach to implement an autonomic computing infrastructure MAACE that provides dynamically programmable control and management services to support the development and deployment of smart (intelligent) applications. The MAACE provides the environment to manage and control software system by multi-agent systems cooperation, which includes agent federation system, agent mediate services system and agent monitor system. We have successfully implemented a proof-of-concept prototype system that can support the self-configuring, and self-healing of any networked application.

    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: Web user profiling, as the technology to improve the Web site service and design by learning the characters of the user, is increasingly used today. And the contradiction in this technology between the collection of personal data and user privacy has attracted attention recently. To alleviate this contradiction, This work provides a new profiling approach, namely non-violative user profiling. First, it introduces the relative works in user profiling field. A non-violative strategy is then presented. And a Markov user model is designed for profiling based on non-violative strategy. Finally, we implemented the solution based on non-violative user profiling approach to help the design of Web site.
