Article: Isolation of low-pathogenic H7N3 avian influenza from wild birds in Peru.
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: Wild birds serve as natural reservoirs and sometimes harbor low-pathogenic avian influenza viruses. However, mutation of the virus can result in highly pathogenic strains, often more common among H5 and H7 genotypes. We report the isolation of a low-pathogenic H7N3 avian influenza in a Peruvian wetland.Journal of wildlife diseases 07/2011; 47(3):792-5. · 1.08 Impact Factor -
Article: Avian influenza in wild birds, central coast of Peru.
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: To determine genotypes of avian influenza virus circulating among wild birds in South America, we collected and tested environmental fecal samples from birds along the coast of Peru, June 2006-December 2007. The 9 isolates recovered represented 4 low-pathogenicity avian influenza strains: subtypes H3N8, H4N5, H10N9, and H13N2.Emerging Infectious Diseases 07/2009; 15(6):935-8. · 6.79 Impact Factor
