ABSTRACT: A convenient, one-pot, copper-free, Pd-catalyzed methodology has been described for the synthesis of 1,3-disubstituted pyrano[4,3-b]quinolines from 2-chloro-3-formylquinolines. Formation of annulated products 3 is attributed to the presence of Pd(OAc)2 and PPh3. ABSTRACT: An efficient copper-free Sonogashira coupling of 2-chloroquinolines with phenyl acetylene to 2-ethynylquinolines is described. We further discussed the one pot facile annulation of 2-alkynylquinoline-3-carboxaldehydes to 3-phenylbenzo[b][1,6]naphthyridines in aqueous ammonia in excellent yield.Graphical abstractTetrahedron. 64(51):11680-11685.
