ABSTRACT: The Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), with their constant evolution, need more and more practical and effective WSN Management Tools (WMT) for large-scale deployment. Due to the resource constraints of wireless sensor node, it is impossible to implement the full classical SNMP standard in WSN applications. Therefore, it is important to develop new WMT providing a subset of functionalities of SNMP standard dedicated to WSN by taking into account the resource constraints of wireless sensor node. In this paper, we propose a new WMT named LiveNCM: LiveNode Non-invasive Context-aware, and modular Management. LiveNCM is based on a configurable modular architecture enables to fit to an application and to provide traditional administration functionalities similar to the SNMP ones. In addition, LiveNCM introduces the concept of noninvasive context-aware to diagnose the wireless sensor node state to reduce the network traffic then the energy consumption. This reduction is obtained by estimating some data with linear models like polygonal ones or interpreting data message exchanges. To validate the proposed concept, the LiveNode platform is used to implement and test energy consumption with LiveNCM protocol.

ABSTRACT: The urban public transportation systems are usually not appropriate for disabled, wheelchair and blind passengers (DWB). This paper introduces the MobiPlus system that aims at improving the public transportation service so as to meet the needs of DWB. The MobiPlus system is an intelligent wireless bus-station interactive system with the integration of multi-wireless techniques (RFID, ZIGBEE, WiFi, and GPS). It consists of three subsystems: DWB detection subsystem, wireless communication subsystem, and bus service subsystem. This paper presents the design of the MobiPlus wireless interactive system at different levels, such as hardware, software and protocol, and also gives the function description of its three subsystems. Currently, this system has been implemented and is under evaluation at Clermont-Ferrand city, France.

ABSTRACT: The current techniques used to diagnose cardiac arrhythmias such as Holter, Rtest and telemetry systems are partially efficient because they are limited either in time or in space. In this paper, a platform dedicated to the real-time remote continuous cardiac arrhythmias detection and monitoring is proposed. Such a platform allows to improve the accuracy and the efficiency of the diagnostic of ventricular tachycardia among the high-risk patients and enables the implantation of ICD to prevent sudden death. The new method allows the patient to lead a normal life while being remotely monitored in real-time by an ambulatory wireless ECG sensor. When a cardiac arrhythmia is detected a message including a sequence of ECG signals and the patient's images (indoors only) is sent to a remote surveillance server. According to the gravity of the symptom, the cardiologist can intervene in real time or later. The system has been evaluated on some ten patients with regard to heartbeat and cardiac rhythm disturbance. The real-time results are similar to those offered by HP telemetry systems.

ABSTRACT: The real-time embedded basic software including real-time kernel and Internet standard communication protocols (TCP/IP, PPP) is a key element to implement distributed embedded intelligent network sensors 'DEINS'. DEINS is a need of modem life and its application fields are diverse: telemedicine, remote home automation, distributed embedded process control etc. In fact, distributed embedded intelligent sensor is mass production, thus it must be cheap to realize and power efficient. However performance requirements as well as cost, power-consumption and real-time constraints may be satisfied by adequately tuning hardware and software. This article describes a configurable real-time micro network kernel 'CμNEK' that combines tightly a super-small real-time micro kernel with a modular embedded Internet standard communication protocol such as TCP/IP stack and PPP. The defined system is implemented on a Spectrum EVM board based on TMS320C5410 and is used to implement a prototype of a DEINS dedicated to remote heart arythmia detection.

ABSTRACT: We generalize the definition of infinitely divisible cascades from 1 to N 2 dimensions and review their main properties (distributions, scaling laws...). We obtain an original method to synthesize multifractal stochastic scalar fields in an N dimensional space. The implementation of this method is quite simple. In dimension N = 2, the application to texture synthesis illustrates the versatility of these processes. We get a class of textures having a large number of degrees of freedom which allows to synthesize directly on a curved surface, for instance on a sphere. Various applications are considered in image processing, turbulence, astrophysics...
