Conference Proceeding: Driving technologies addressing the future dynamic transparent core networks
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: Reconfigurable transparent networks are now a reality in the core layer thanks to the implementation of innovative transmission and wavelength routing sub-systems. Transparency on a large scale opens up new perspectives in terms of scalability and flexibility. There are numerous promising technologies to achieve that goal but it is likely that only few of them will really prevail in the field. For instance, the compliance with the already installed transmission infrastructures or the power consumption consideration may prevent a technology from appearing in a real optical network. This paper presents some of our current research directions that exhibit a high potential to meet the market requirements for the future dynamic transparent core networks.Transparent Optical Networks, 2008. Conference Proceeding: Nonlinear cumulated phase as a criterion to assess performance of terrestrial WDM systems
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: Through extensive numerical studies, we showed that the cumulated nonlinear phase can be considered as a relevant parameter to assess the performance of N × 40 Gbit/s terrestrial systems, after calibration. This can be of high interest for constraint based-routing algorithms in Ultra-Long haul transparent networks: indeed, a node could decide, with the knowledge of the nonlinear phase and OSNR evolution, whether a path should be regenerated or not.Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibit, 2002.
