Conference Proceeding: Parameter selection on admission control scheme for cellular system
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: In future wireless systems, radio resources, i.e., radio spectrum or bandwidth, will become more and more precious and scarce, driving radio resource management (RRM) schemes towards greater efficiency. At the same time, high user mobility with ever smaller cellular architectures and a hierarchical cellular system will result in increased handoff. An admission control (AC) scheme is a key part of RRM and it is vital that it deals reasonably with the potential load and handoff, prevents congestion and efficiently utilizes radio resources while guaranteeing the required QoS of current connections. A predictive admission control scheme is proposed which is a promising way to realize broadband access in a wireless communication system effectively. According to its structure, it is easy to work cooperatively with other RRM functions. In fact, its survival priorities can also be provided to decide the packet priorities by packet scheduling. It greatly improves the radio resource utilization ratio and reduces the handoff dropping probability while the total computational complexity is not very high. The unique problem may be that wireless systems should have a priori knowledge about user mobility and length of calls.Vehicular Technology Conference, 2004. VTC 2004-Spring. 2004 IEEE 59th; 06/2004
