ABSTRACT: Wireless sensor networks require energy-efficient data transmission because the sensor nodes have limited power. A cluster-based routing method is more energy-efficient than a flat routing method as it can only send specific data for user requirements and aggregate similar data by dividing a network into a local cluster. However, previous clustering algorithms have some problems in that the transmission radius of sensor nodes is not realistic and multi-hop based communication is not used both inside and outside local clusters. As energy consumption based on clustering is dependent on the number of clusters, we need to know how many clusters are best. Thus, we propose an optimal number of cluster-heads based on multi-hop routing in wireless sensor networks. We observe that a local cluster made by a cluster-head influences the energy consumption of sensor nodes. We determined an equation for the number of packets to send and relay, and calculated the energy consumption of sensor networks using it. Through the process of calculating the energy consumption, we can obtain the optimal number of cluster-heads in wireless sensor networks.

ABSTRACT: Recently, increasing with the interest in an unmanned vehicle, the role of middleware for unmanned vehicles has increased rapidly. For this reason, middleware to appropriate has become necessary. Middleware for the development and research is underway. Among these studies, one way is developing the middleware directly other way is extending the existing middleware. The latter includes the OSGi. OSGi is a standards body that was founded in March 1999 to define open specifications for software technology providing a gateway function. These features include remote management, rich class sharing, proprietary vehicular applications, security policies, easy management of application programming interface (APIs), and an open environment. In this paper, we present adaptability using the OSGi middleware for unmanned vehicle.

ABSTRACT: Interest for wireless sensor networks has being increased in ubiquitous environment. In wireless sensor networks, each node sets up self-organization network, transfer the sensing data to sink node. Sensor nodes that compose sensor network are small size, and their battery capacity is limited. So, each node also imposes a constraint on search and recovery of data-path. In this paper, we designed a method to build data-path, considering restrictive features of a sensor node. Each node uses the routing table which consists of state information of a node and neighbors, to set up the data-path. Using the routing table, they can efficiently transfer the sensing data from each node to a sink.

ABSTRACT: Sensor networks consist of various sensors and have a constraint depend on its physical characteristics. The sensor network middleware can provide with abstractions of characteristics about each sensor network to user applications. Thereby, these sensor networks can cooperate easily with traditional network through sensor network middleware platform. In this manner, agents in platform interact with each other but they have a problem such as lack of reliability. So, we propose the agent-based sensor network middleware using reputation mechanism over heterogeneous network environments to provide enhanced service discovery and agent management.

ABSTRACT: Recently, paradigm of system integration changes into distributed computing environment. Advances in the network and hardware accumulation technology have enabled the development of micro-sensors which can manage wireless communication. Therefore, indoor localization services using wireless signal are social issues. Wireless signal is affected by signal distortion, reflection, channel fading, and path loss. Therefore, we propose effective error correction method to obtain accurate distance information. In this paper, the presented approach progressed in two phases: the first phase offers to problems of existing localization method and the Kalman-filter algorithm. The second phase offers to problems of the coverage and power consumption of sensor nodes in indoor. Finally, we propose the effective localization and error correction algorithm.

ABSTRACT: Existing operating system designs cannot guarantee isolation of user applications or system components from some system faults that occur in operating system services. If an error causes the failure by operating system services, the system can be corrupted or many system components which are dependent that services are affected. For constructing more reliable system, we have to manage this problem. In this paper, we propose the dependable system architecture by using microkernel concept. Because microkernel has reliable features such like isolation of system components, fault tolerance, modularity, small TCB, and so on, we can organize more dependable system architecture. Especially, separating state information, application and server can achieve more reliable system. To separate state information from process or server can help to recover system components.

ABSTRACT: During the past decade, we already experienced the wide spreading of mobile devices such as a mobile phone. In the first stage, most mobile phone has its own and fixed embedded applications, mobile phone users could not executed additional applications. To execute additional applications, the mobile virtual machines are introduced and embedded in most mobile phones. However, due to the restrictions of mobile device and commercial reasons, most mobile phone includes a single application execution platform. Therefore, mobile phone users only can run applications which are implemented in the same platform. To ensure reusability of applications and to reduce development costs of the applications, we designed L4 microkernel based lightweight mobile middleware which supports multiple application execution platforms in a single device. In this paper, we will review our design and implement a mobile middleware which support multiple virtual machines to the actual mobile device. By applying our mobile middleware, we expect that it can reduce porting effort of virtual machines and also offers efficient and flexible application execution environment in the mobile devices.

ABSTRACT: In sensor network, energy efficiency and reliable data are very important factor, because sensors have limitation such as amount of battery, capacity of memory, and computation power. Thereby, most of sensor network consider sensor's limitation. For this reason, we propose efficient routing scheme that merges Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) protocol and Directory Facilitator (DF) of Component-Based Autonomic Layered Middleware (CALM).

ABSTRACT: During a decade, we already experienced the wide spreading of mobile devices such as a mobile phone. Hardware performance is dramatically improved and mass production is enabled. To execute various applications, there are already various mobile virtual machines in the mobile phone software. However, due to the restrictions of mobile device and commercial reasons, most handset includes single application execution platform. Therefore, users cannot run any applications which are implemented in the different platform. To ensure reusability of applications and reduction costs for development to the handset users and application developers, we designed L4 microkernel based lightweight mobile middleware which can run multiple application execution platform in single device. In this paper, we will design a general purpose hardware abstraction layer, a detailed part of our proposed design of mobile middleware. Because of it contain commonly usable functions for the multiple virtual machines, we expect that it can reduce porting effort of virtual machines and also offers efficient execution environment in the mobile devices.

ABSTRACT: WSNs middleware is software positioned between applications and the operating system in sensor nodes. This middleware should have a communication function between the sensor nodes, to support good interactive functions between the user's applications. It must balance the resource use between the client and server system. WSNs comprise server-side middleware and in-network middleware. Server-side middleware supports application services efficiently in the server system. In-network middleware, located between sensor nodes, is in charge of managing the inner sensing information. We choose an event-driven network, the publish and subscribe network model, to support WSN. Using this model, sensor networks could reduce unnecessary energy consumption and respond to a variety of user requests.

ABSTRACT: The feature of 6LoWPAN is the capability of the dynamic assignment of 16bit short addresses. By using this dynamically assigned short address, a hierarchical routing is employed. In case of node failure, this hierarchical routing does not support a technique for path recovery. So, this paper proposes the path recovery technique for hierarchical routing over 6LoWPAN.

ABSTRACT: Although current service discovery protocols provide the same basic function of service discovery, they differ significantly in architecture, message exchange pattern, expected operating environment and service representation/description. These differences prevent service interoperability among protocols. In this paper, we propose service discovery mechanism, using CALM agent platform to guarantee scalability of scope of available services without modifying existing service discovery protocols. Agent technologies are rising as the key to the ubiquitous environment. Agents mean the software that automatically performs necessary tasks instead of users. And intelligent agents are the software that makes plans and implement them so that multi agents will be able to meet users' needs most effectively in cooperation with each other. Intelligent agents require a function that enables to find out users' tastes and apply them to the performance of tasks in order to provide the results in conformity with users' preferences. The proposed service discovery mechanism provides users with a wider selection of services, and convenient search methods. An advantage of the proposed architecture is that the user can obtain more suitable services than existing approaches about service discovery.

ABSTRACT: Multi-agent technologies are essential in realizing the upcoming ubiquitous environment. In the multi-agent environment, each agent has its own set of services and stores these services in the service repository of the multi-agent system. By using this repository, the user can retrieve the most appropriate service. The goal of this paper is to propose a way to register agents so that makes users or autonomous agents to find target agents more conveniently and efficiently. Also, this paper is to propose a way to federate DF registries. In order to achieve this goal, we have survey the key technologies such as agent platform, FIPA DF, JADE, repository systems. In this paper, we propose an efficient service repository architecture that can improve the exiting agent-based service discovery. An advantage of the proposed architecture is that the user can obtain more suitable services than existing approaches about service discovery.
