Abstract
The 700 anniversary celebrated by the city of Toruń in 1933 was an incentive for its scientific and professional circles to look to the past at work and activity of the previous generations. One of the initiatives taken then was a written paper on history of the Toruń medical doctors. Otton Steinborn was an author of the work. He had gathered a lot of data and information and prepared a comprehensive lecture made at a meeting of the Medical Society. He demonstrated that doctors had played an important role in the life of Toruń not only in the medical field but also in the social and political areas. Nevertheless, they had worked without publicity, without entering their names into books. So, the lecturer considered it important to bring their names back from oblivion and to preserve them in print. Mr. Steinborn prepared his work on the grounds of local archives, library and museum collections.
