ABSTRACT Mesenchymal stem cells possess the ability to differentiate into osteoblasts, chondroblasts, lipoblasts, myoblasts and so on, which can be used in the formation of hematopoietic microenvironment, tissue repairing and gene therapy. Growth factors such as TGF-beta, IGF-I, BMP and FGF can influence on the differentiation of MSC and they cooperate with each other. MSCs support hematopoiesis by secreting cytokines including G-CSF, SCF, LIF, M-CSF, IL-6, IL-11 and are related to some diseases. MSC would demonstrate important effect on gene engineering.
