PEMBELAJARAN GEOMETRI PADA SISWA AUTIS MELALUI PEMANFAATAN MEDIA BANGUN RUANG SEDERHANA (Studi di Sekolah Autis Laboratorium Universitas Negeri Malang)
The autism children, children suffering obstruction in thinking development, ground this research. Therefore, teaching procedure for autism children cannot be equalized to the procedure for normal children. Teaching procedure for this kind of children uses visualization media at the most. Therefore, it can be taken some problems, such as, does shape model media can increase Mathematics learning ability of the autism student class I in Laboratorium Autism School of State University of Malang? And how is the shape model media utilization in Mathematics teaching on the autism student class I in Laboratorium Autism School of State University of Malang? The purpose of this research is to describe the benefits of shape model media in order to increase mathematics learning ability on autism students and the shape model media utilization to mathematics teaching on autism students. This research is done in Laboratorium Autism School of State University of Malang with two-autism student class I as the research subject. The taken data in this research is about the benefits of shape model media in order to increase Mathematics learning ability of autism students and about the utilization of shape model media to Mathematics teaching on autism students. Data collecting technique uses observation, interview and documentation methods. Based on the research results during five times meeting, it is obtained that the tradisional shape model media is 100% able to increase mathematics learning ability of Laboratorium Autism School student class I of State University of Malang. The utilization of shape model media in mathematics teaching on Laboratorium Autism School student class I of State University of Malang is only achieving visualization stage. It is because autism students have different cognitive ability with the normal students.
