Abstract

The foot changes with age from wide and short in neonates to intermediate in teenagers.
To describe changes in mean length and width of the foot during fast and slow phases of growth between the age of 4 and 18 years in the female and male population.
The study was done in 9804 girls and 8699 boys aged 4 to 18 years, randomly selected from kindergartens and schools of the Warmia and Mazury region. The computerized body posture station and the projection moiré technique were used. The results are presented graphically.
1. The rate of increase in the length and width of the foot in the female and male population is steady between the age of 4 and 18 years but shows a trough at the age of 14 years. 2. The mean foot length and width values were significantly greater in 2003 than in 1990.
