Investigación en Enseñanza Secundaria: los “jóvenes investigadores”

ABSTRACT Resumen: Actualmente son numerosas las instituciones educativas que potencian e incentivan la investigación científica entre los estudiantes de Educación Secundaria, Bachillerato, y Formación Profesional. Bajo esta perspectiva han surgido en numerosas comunidades autónomas de nuestro país congresos y jornadas de “jóvenes investigadores” centrados fundamentalmente en las Enseñanzas Medias. Pues bien, desde el I.E.S. Mario Roso de Luna de Logrosán (Cáceres) iniciamos un proyecto de “Jóvenes investigadores” con un proyecto didáctico adecuado y adaptado a los alumnos/as existentes en la Comarca de las Villuercas (Cáceres). En definitiva, el objetivo de nuestro proyecto es colaborar en el proceso de enseñanza/aprendizaje desde una óptica distinta y complementaria a la establecida por el propio sistema y currículo académico.Summary: Now there are numerous teaching establishments that promote and incentive scientific inquiry among the students of high school and vocational training. Under this prospect, conferences of “young researchers” have taken place, in numerous autonomous regions of our country (Spain), all of them basically centred at the high school level. Then, from the I.E.S. Mario Roso de Luna in Logrosán, Cáceres, we began a plan of “young researchers” with a didactic plan adapted and converted for students who live in the Villuercas region. Our final objective is to collaborate in the teaching/learning process from a point of view that is different but at the same time complementary with the one established for the educational system and the academic curriculum.

    ABSTRACT: A growing number of educators are exploring digital games for engaging students in learning experiences, but relatively little is known about how games engage players, how learning occurs through gameplay, or what interactions occur when complex games are brought into school culture. This case study examines what happens when Civilization III was brought into an urban school for underserved students. Engagement in gameplay was a complex process of appropriation and resistance, recruiting students' identities and intentions. Learning occurred through recursive cycles of failure and revising strategies, which led to frustration, engagement and learning. Students developed familiarity with game concepts and deeper understandings of relationships among history, geography, economics, and politics.

    ABSTRACT: A mobile and multimedia game designed for History education was analyzed in terms of how it is designed and how it was applied as a narrative learning environment. In History education, narrative can be argued to be very useful to overcome fragmentation of the knowledge of historical characters and events, by relating these with meaningful connections of temporality and sequence (storification). In the game studied, students explore the history of Amsterdam by walking in the city, experiencing characters, buildings, and events, while using UMTS/GPS phones for communication and exchange of information. The History game was played during one day by 216 students, spread over 10 secondary school classes, in groups of four or five students. All information exchanged during the games was collected, and the game play and introduction of the game was observed by team coaches and researchers. The design of the game as well as the actual gaming process was analyzed with respect to how it evoked three types of storification: receiving (spectator), constructing (director) and participating in (actor) the story. Results show that the game evoked a mixture of these three types of storification. Moreover, these types of storification processes differently affected students’ engagement. Participating in the story evoked high activity in the game but less awareness of the whole story, whereas constructing the story triggered awareness of the whole story. Compared to receiving the story, both these types positively affected the engagement of the students being active and motivated during the game.
