ABSTRACT The use of anabolic steroids is a growing problem in Denmark. The effects and side effects caused by anabolic steroids in relation to anaesthesia are poorly described. This article describes a case of circulatory collapse in a young bodybuilder during anaesthesia. The primary cause of the collapse remains undetermined, but different hypotheses are proposed based on previously published literature.
