Dimensioning of Optical Networks with Incomplete Information
ABSTRACT We perform the dimensioning of a set of realistic optical networks with and without knowledge of the network topology. Results are compared regarding transmission systems and bandwidth management costs, and the average error is calculated. We found that the lack of information about the network topology does not penalize substantially the accuracy of the results.

ABSTRACT: We present a model to estimate the Capital Expendi- ture (CAPEX) for passive optical network (PON) technology. We begin by identifying the key components of the PON technology and from that a CAPEX model is obtained. We then present single and cascaded splitter schemes, and their influence on the CAPEX.
