ABSTRACT The grounding system plays an important role in the quality of
power produced by windfarms, since overvoltages caused by a fault
situation, have to be successfully dispersed into the ground. In this
paper the effect of grounding system design in transient overvoltages
appearing in windfarm electrical installations is studied. In
particular, the effect of interconnecting individual wind turbine
grounding systems via horizontal strips on transferred overvoltages is
examined
