Electrostatic effects in soft matter
ABSTRACT The influence of electrostatic effects in various model systems of the soft matter
is presented. Computer simulations (Monte Carlo and molecular dynamics) as well
as numerical and analytical theories are developed to understand the role
of the Coulomb interaction in those systems.
In particular, phenomena such as anomalous counterion distribution (overcharging),
polyelectrolyte adsorption and multilayering, image forces, and
charged colloids in bulk and in strong confinement are investigated and discussed.
