ABSTRACT: This paper examines the willingness-to-pay of people living in a number of villages in Navarre, in the Spanish Pyrenees to reduce noise and air pollution. Several models are used for estimation based on contingent valuation, noting that those living near roads are willing to pay more to reduce air and noise pollution. In addition, younger people, the better educated, and the more environmentally aware individuals are also willing to pay more to reduce those externalities.

ABSTRACT: The behavior of citizens in natural areas is the result of a very complex psychological process in which various psychological, social and environmental factors all play their parts. The influence of the psychological factors, as well as the personal benefits received during the stay in the area concerned, as well as place attachment, have received theoretical consideration, but the empirical evidence is limited in the environmental field. This paper explores the direct and indirect role of the receiving of benefits in predicting the attachment of visitors and the subsequent development of their WTP and loyalty. In general terms the results of the structural model show that the received benefits, and affective and functional links determine WTP intentions with regard to conservation and the loyalty of visitors in two suburban natural areas. In conclusion, the management implications of the study are discussed.

ABSTRACT: This paper explores the determining effect of the cognitive and affective antecedents of, satisfaction on the behavioural intentions of visitors to two suburban natural areas in Spain. Specifically, we examine the effect of psychological variables on willingness to pay for the, improvement of the conservation of the area and on visitor loyalty. Using multigroup invariance, analysis, we show how positive disconfirmation and positive emotions play a determining role, in the satisfaction formation process of visitors to the natural areas considered. We also show, that positive cognitive and affective experiences in visitors raise the economic valuation of the, conservation of a natural area and increase the likelihood of a prompt return visit. We discuss, the management implications deriving from the study of this cognitive and affective satisfaction, sequence in the environmental context, and demonstrate the usefulness of these behavioural, models combining economics with other social sciences in the environmental context.
