Padrão do ciclo sono-vigília e sua relação com a ansiedade em estudantes universitários

ABSTRACT Neste trabalho, foram investigadas as relações entre o ciclo sono-vigília e a ansiedade. O ciclo sono-vigília e traço e estado de ansiedade foram avaliados em 37 estudantes do segundo ano do curso médico. Os estudantes responderam ao Índice de Qualidade de Sono de Pittsburgh - IQSP, ao Inventário de Estado e Traço de Ansiedade - IDATE e a um questionário de matutinidade - vespertinidade (cronotipo). Todos registraram seu sono em um diário durante duas semanas. Os resultados mostraram que os estudantes de medicina tinham altos escores de traço e estado de ansiedade. Aqueles que tinham maiores escores de traço de ansiedade acordavam mais cedo nos dias de semana e finais de semana enquanto os que apresentavam irregularidade do seu ciclo sono-vigília apresentaram maior estado de ansiedade. Sugere-se que há uma relação entre o ciclo sono-vigília e a ansiedade.

    ABSTRACT: Resumen El objetivo de este trabajo fue estudiar la relación entre la matutinidad-vespertinidad, la edad, el sexo, la ansiedad rasgo y la modalidad deportiva en depor-tistas adolescentes. La muestra estaba formada por 102 jóvenes atletas españoles de alto rendimiento (54 mujeres y 48 hombres) con una edad entre los 14 y 17 años. Se midió la matutinidad-vespertinidad mediante la Escala Compuesta de Matutinidad-Vespertinidad (CS) y la ansiedad rasgo mediante el Inventario de Ansie-dad Estado-Rasgo (STAI). Los resultados indican que no existe relación entre el cronotipo, la edad, el sexo y la ansiedad de los deportistas, mientras que estos son más matutinos que la población general de adolescentes y los velocistas/vallistas son más vespertinos que el resto de modalidades. Se concluye que la práctica deportiva de alto rendimiento puede que sea un Zeitzbergs ex-terno que modifica aspectos psicológicos, fisiológicos y bioquímicos de los jóvenes. Abstract The relationship between morningness-eveningness, age, sex, anxiety trait and sports modality among adolescent athletes was studied. 102 high performance young Spanish athletes (54 woman and 48 men) between 14 and 17 years old participated in this study. Morningness-Eveningness was measured by the Composite Scale Morningness-Eveningness (CS) and anxiety trait was measured by the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). The results indicate that there is no relationship between chronotype, age, sex and anxiety of athletes, as these are more morningness than the general population of adolescents; and sprinters / hurdlers are more eveningness than other modalities. We conclude that high sports performance may be an external Zeitzbergs amending psychological, physiological and biochemical aspects of youth.

    ABSTRACT: In several treatment regimens, the recognition of chronobiology contributes to the therapeutic process through the effective use of temporization protocols. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the relationship between the response to physiotherapeutic treatment and the time of day when such treatment was performed, as well as the chronotype of orthopedic and rheumatologic patients in a clinical physiotherapy school. The population studied was treated in the morning and evening periods. The patients were divided into three groups of pathologies with similar treatments, which were as follows: syndrome of shoulder impact (n=33), knee artrosis (n=17), and lombalgia (n=23). At the end of ten treatment sessions, data concerning pain, percentage of subjective improvement, chronotype, and age were compared. At the end of the study, it was observed that the time of day when treatment was performed influenced the results of individuals treated in the evenings but had no influence on the individuals treated in the morning. In addition, the evening schedule was the most well suited for intermediate individuals.

    ABSTRACT: Objective:  This study assessed the effects of an aquatic respiratory exercise-based program in patients with fibromyalgia (FMS).Methods:  Forty women, aged between 20 and 60 years, were randomly assigned into two groups of 20 patients: the aquatic respiratory exercise-based program (ARG) and the control group (CTL). The ARG group performed the exercise program for 1 h, four times a week, for 4 weeks which included: (i) warming-up; (ii) respiratory exercises, consisting of five different breathing patterns, along with upper, lower limbs and trunk movements (45 min); and (iii) relaxation exercises. Both groups were included in supervised recreational activities of 1 h, once a week, for 4 weeks. Questionnaires were applied before and after intervention to assess quality of life and functional capacity (SF-36, Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire [FIQ]), anxiety (Hamilton Anxiety Scale [HAS]), and quality of sleep (Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index [PSQI]). Number of tender points and pain (Visual Analogue Scale [VAS]) were also evaluated.Results:  At baseline there was no difference between the two groups, including number of tender points and questionnaire responses. After intervention, the ARG group, compared with the CTL group, showed improvement in SF-36 scores (physical functioning P = 0.001, bodily pain P = 0.001, vitality P = 0.009, social functioning P = 0.001, emotional role P = 0.001), in FIQ (total score P = 0.049, work missed P = 0.036, fatigue P = 0.013, morning tiredness P = 0.007) plus in VAS-pain (P = 0.029), VAS-dyspnea (P = 0.04), anxiety (HAS P = 0.005) and quality of sleep (PSQI P = 0.004).Conclusions:  The short-term aquatic respiratory exercise-based program improved pain, quality of life, functional capacity, anxiety and quality of sleep in patients with FMS and may be a relevant addition to the treatment of these patients.
