ABSTRACT This article presents an evaluation of the antioxidant status of plants
with the use of the GDV-method under the toxic effect of cadmium. A high
concentration of Сd in the soil is proven to stimulate the accumulation of anthocyans,
carotenoids, and acorbic acid and to contribute to a reduction in the
concentration of water-soluble antioxidants in the leaves of the plants under
consideration. It is shown that GDV-entropy can be used as a principal characteristic
of the state of a vegetative organism when estimating the antioxidant
status of plants and the degree of their adaptation to the toxic effect of
cadmium ions.
