Langenbecks Archiv fü Chirurgie 12/1980; 352(1):568-569. DOI: 10.1007/BF01292220
Summary Surgical procedures, präoperative diagnosis, postoperative complications and mortality, and prognosis in 54 cases of colonic perforations from 1974 to 1980 are reported. Perforations were caused mostly by diverticular diseases and cancer. 55.6% of the perforations were localized in the sigma. Only therapy is immediate laparotomy and mending the perforation. Our experience of 54 operations prompts us to propose early resection in states of acute perforation. The mortality rate was 12.9%.
