Variables personales y contextuales implicadas en la elaboración del concepto explícito de familia Personal and contextual variables affecting the elaboration of an explicit family concept

El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar si el concepto explícito de familia se ve afectado por el tipo de experiencia familiar personal y/o por la edad del sujeto (relacionada con la capacidad cognitiva que le caracteriza en cada etapa) y su género. Para ello se pasó una entrevista abierta a una muestra de 100 menores de bajo nivel educativo, distribuidos según su género (masculino vs. femenino), edad (grupo 1: de 8 a 12; grupo 2: de 13 a 17) y tipo de residencia (centro de menores vs. hogar familiar). Los resultados muestran un concepto menos elaborado y complejo en los participantes de menor edad, así como en los que residen en centros de menores. Por su parte, el género no parece ser demasiado influyente, aunque las chicas presentan un concepto algo más complejo frente a los chicos. The study analyses whether the type of personal family experience, subjects' age (related to the cognitive capacity characteristic of each stage) and/or gender affects an explicit personal family concept in minors. An open interview was carried out on a sample of 100 minors from families with a low education level distributed according to gender (male or female), age (group 1: from 8 to 12 years; group 2: from 13 to 17 years), and type of residence (protection centres or family home). The results show that the family concept of the younger participants and those living in protection centres is less complex and less well developed. Gender, however, seems less influential, even though girls have a somewhat more complex family concept than boys.

    ABSTRACT: This research analyses the personal, social and educational adaptation of 74 children, aged between 6 and 18, under measures of protection in residential care centres. The Autoevaluative Multifactorial Child Adaptation Test (TAMAI) was applied to evaluate the children's level of adaptation. The study also aims to determine the relationship between the different levels of competence and/or functioning in the different areas of adaptation. The results indicate that institutionalised children show a high level of failure to adapt in both personal and social aspects. The fact that children show dissociative maladjustment, negative thoughts and mechanisms for escaping from reality (dreaming, negative opinion of self and undervaluing) is confirmed. There is evidence of the negative effects of neglect on children's perceptions, especially a poor opinion of self and inadequate self esteem. Worthy of note are a maladjusted opinion of self and of reality which makes them pile the tension, fear and uneasiness they live through upon their own shoulders, something which can lead to undervaluing. An inability to adapt to school life manifests itself in a low work level and low motivation to learn and a general dissatisfaction with their schooling situation.
