Nuclear spin excitations in Nd2CuO4

Physica B Condensed Matter (impact factor: 1.06). DOI:10.1016/S0921-4526(99)01435-0 pp.252-253

ABSTRACT We have investigated low-energy excitations in Nd2CuO4 in the μeV range by a backscattering neutron spectrometer. The energy scans at millikelvin temperatures revealed inelastic peaks at about on both energy gain and energy loss sides. The inelastic peaks move gradually towards lower energy with increasing temperature and finally merges with the elastic peak at zero energy transfer. We interpret the inelastic peak as low-energy nuclear spin excitations arising due to the Shull–Nakamura indirect interaction.
