Zum Jahreswechsel besonderer Art

Abstract

Der Strom der Zeit wird durch Zeitmeilensteine und Ären segmentiert. Der kommende Jahreswechsel ist durch den Übergang von
1999 auf 2000 ein Jahrtausend-Ereignis (wenn auch nicht das Jahrtausend-Ende) und durch den Wechsel in der Schriftleitung
der e & i besonders markiert. Es werden die Grundlagen unseres Kalenders dargestellt und eine Reihe seiner Einzelheiten erklärt.
Einer kompakten Beschreibung der Ären der Zeitschrift e & i folgt eine Kurzbeschreibung meiner Relationen zu ihr, und schließlich
zieht ein Interview mit der scheidenden Schriftleiterin eine Bilanz ihrer Ära.
The stream of time is segmented by time mile-stones and by eras. The coming year-end is distinguished by the transition from
1999 to 2000, a thousand year event (although not the end of the century) and by the retirement of the lady-editor of the
e & i. The fundamentals of our calendar are described and a set of its details is explained. A compact account of the era
of the journal e & i is followed by a short description of the author’s relationship to it. Finally an interview with the
retiring editor draws the summary of her era.
