Power output characteristics analysis of wind energy converter control methods
ABSTRACT The stochastically fluctuating offer of wind energy limits the supply capacity in electrical grids by means of technical and economical reasons. This paper analyses the influence of the control method on the power output characteristic of wind energy converters. Conventional controls, like optimal rotor speed control, and a new control, the stochastic dynamic optimization, are compared in regard of their grid impact. The results show the superior performance of the stochastic dynamic optimization. The power gradient and the deviation from the mean power output value are significantly lowered, reducing the wind energy converterpsilas impact on the grid stability.
Conference Paper: An overview of offshore wind electric energy resources[Show abstract] [Hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: In this paper we review offshore wind energy for generating electricity at off-shore sites. In particular, we survey the impacts of offshore wind integration into the grid, various types of generators and their dynamic modeling, fault ride-through techniques used to improve generator and grid integration performance, the aggregated wind turbines modeling and finally highlight some stability and control issues.Electrical and Computer Engineering (CCECE), 2010 23rd Canadian Conference on; 01/2010
