ABSTRACT This paper presents a novel image watermarking approach in the framework of double domain watermarking. The watermark pattern is generated as a discrete cosine transform domain signal, and adapted to the characteristics of human visual system by adjusting the localized embedding strength in the spatial domain. Watermark detection can be operated applying a correlation based detector in either of the two domains. In the approach, it is theoretically explained how to generate a watermark pattern according to the property of the used transform domain. Meanwhile, some strategies to resist geometrical attacks are given based on the obtained watermarking property. The experimental results show that the presented approach manifests the good robustness against a wide range of attacks.
