ABSTRACT This article has been retracted: please see Elsevier Policy on Article Withdrawal (http://www.elsevier.com/locate/withdrawalpolicy).This article has been retracted at the request of the Editor-in-Chief and with the approval of the Editorial Board of the Journal. This paper plagiarizes parts of a paper that had already appeared in Transplant. Proc., 39 (2007) 1432–1435 by N. Basic-Jukic et al. entitled “Renal transplantation in patients with Balkan endemic nephropathy” and duplicated their Transplant. Proc., 41 (2009) 1619–1623 publication in Urol. Int., 83 (2009) 200–205 under the same title that it appeared in Transplantation Proceedings. One of the conditions of submission of a paper for publication is that authors declare explicitly that their work is original and has not appeared in a publication elsewhere. Re-use of material should be appropriately cited. This article represents a severe abuse of the scientific publishing system. The scientific community takes a very strong view on this matter and apologies are offered to readers of the journal that this was not detected during the submission process.
