ABSTRACT Translational and Galilean invariant approaches to the charge form factor for elastic electron scattering from nuclei as well as to the longitudinal and transverse response functions for inclusive electron scattering are presented. The results indicate that the proper treatment of these invariances is rather essential for the analysis of such experiments.
