Anomalous absorption of powerful radio waves on the striations developed during ionospheric modification
ABSTRACT A nonlinear theory of anomalous absorption of powerful radio waves on small scale irregularities in the ionosphere is constructed. Peculiarities of the absorption near the third electron gyrofrequency are investigated and discussed. The theory is shown to be in agreement with observations. The existence of a maximum in the probe wave absorption is predicted. Its dependence on the shift between the probe wave frequency and the pump wave frequency is determined.

ABSTRACT: Plasma kinetics in an alternating electric field are considered and topics related to the self-action of plane radio waves are examined, taking into account a homogeneous alternating field in a plasma, a simplification of the kinetic equation for electrons, the transformation of the electron collision integral, inelastic collisions, the electron distribution function, the ion distribution function, the action of radio waves on the ionosphere, the nonlinear wave equation, the nonlinear geometrical optics of a plane wave, the effect of nonlinearity on the amplitude and phase of the wave, the change of wave modulation, the generation of harmonic waves and nonlinear detection, and the self-action of radio waves in the lower ionosphere.
