ABSTRACT MRP (Material Requirement Planning) process generates a production plan which guarantees an exact quantity of right materials
on needed time but it sometimes causes capacity problems in the shop floor because of its ignorance on capacity constraints.
This paper presents a new planning method which involves the capacity planning during the MRP process. This planning method
starts from generating resource-based data structure and grouping resources which can act as a bottleneck. Explosion of resources
and adjustment of production schedules in accordance with the time horizon and the critical resources follow the former step.

ABSTRACT: Because of current strong globalization trend, manufacturers and planners are more willing to cooperate in many aspects such as purchasing, production, planning and so on. Accordingly, capacity planning of supply chain should also be done in order to maximize the overall interests of supply chain. Firstly, the difference between capacity planning of supply chain and traditional capacity planning is studied. Then a whole framework for capacity planning system is proposed. Meantime, a knowledge-based agent is also put forward. Finally, the operation model of capacity planning based on multi-agent is given.

ABSTRACT: Because of current strong globalization trend, manufacturers and planners are more willing to cooperate in many aspects such as purchasing, production, planning and so on. Accordingly, capacity planning of supply chain should also be done in order to maximize the overall interests of supply chain. Capacity planning in supply chain is different from traditional capacity planning which confined single enterprise. Firstly, the integration necessity of capacity planning in supply chain is discussed. Secondly, the types of capacity planning are presented and method of capacity computation for each type of planning is also studied. Thirdly, the framework for integrated planning system is given and its function model is described with the modeling tool of IDEF0. Finally, a case is presented to show the validation of this study.
