ABSTRACT The use of Grid technologies allows us to make progress in the prediction accuracy of epidemiological patterns, epidemiological modeling, risk predictions of infectious diseases etc by combining the geo-information and molecular simulation analysis methods. In this paper, we mainly design the eMicrob, in particular, build up the e-Microbe miniGrid deployed in IRSA, CAS and IME, the Chinese PLA. The architecture is as follows: Firstly we review related grid applications that are motivating widespread interest in Grid concepts within the scientific and engineering communities. Secondly we talk about the key methodologies and strategies involved in the construction of eMicrob. In the third section, the system design of the eMicrob, in particular about the architecture of the eMicrob miniGrid is discussed. Finally, we draw some conclusion in the process of the building of eMicrob and make some discussion about the challenges. It has been proven that the methods based on the Grid technologies are revolutionary and high efficient through the experience of the establishment and deployment of the e-Microbe miniGrid.

ABSTRACT: The signal at the top of the atmosphere will certainly contain information about both the surface and the atmosphere. To derive the geophysical parameters from satellites remote sensing images, the atmospheric effects must be decoupled. Aerosol Optical Thickness (AOT), an important aerosol optical property, should be correctly determined to remove the atmospheric effect. The retrieval process is great time-consuming and the EMS memory required is too large for a personal computing to run efficiently. Therefore, to facilitate the process smoothly, SYNTAM model is used to retrieve AOT over a wide range of land including China and one European area from MODIS data on the Remote Sensing Information Service Grid Node (RSIN, http://www.tgp.ac.cn) deployed at Institute of Remote Sensing Applications, Chinese Academy of Sciences. AOT retrieval results show that the RSIN Grid service is high efficient and has the potential to be applied to the remote sensing parameter inversion.

ABSTRACT: The compartmental models using differential equations are basic models in epidemiology. The temporal evolution of spatial models for epidemic spreading is suitable for parallelization and GRID services are solutions for speeding the algorithms used in these models. We investigate several computational aspects of parallel algorithms used in cellular automata model and small world networks model. The four compartmental small world network model of disease propagation (SEIR) is parallelized. In the second application, we have found an asymptotic solution of zero degree for a nonlinear differential parabolic equations system with a unique, small parameter, in a cancerous disease model. We got a cancerous cells density using simulation in three stages according with some system parameter value. Grid service has been constructed for these numeric simulations.
