Mobile Phone Radiation Toxicology: an urgent attention is necessary

01/2011; In proceeding of: 2nd International Conference on Medical Negligence and litigation in Medical Practice & 2nd international Conference on Recent Advances in Forensic Sciences, Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, At Goa, India

ABSTRACT Mobile phone radiation toxicity is not a new term to be discussed. In simpler sense this term is related to the toxic effects of electromagnetic radiations emitted by the mobile phones/cell phone/mobile phone towers on the human body. The widespread use of mobile phones has been increased over the past decade; they are now an essential part of business, commerce and society. Electromagnetic energy from cell phones and radio towers are categorized as non-ionizing radiation and are generally thought to be harmless, while iodizing rays from x-rays and nuclear energy has been proven to cause cancer. However, in recent years the sheer number of non-ionizing instruments in our environment has caused some scientists to wonder if the assumption that this type of radiation is truly safe. The use of mobile phones is a risk factor for health hazards and suggest that long term or excessive use of mobile phones should be avoided by health promotion activities such as group discussions, public presentations and through electronic and print media sources.
The past decade has seen an exponential increase globally in the use of cellular phones (popularly known as mobile or cell phones). These phones are convenient and trendy. Discarding the wire means that the communication is through electromagnetic waves, which could have potential hazards. We have reviewed the effects of mobile phone on human body. At the end we have framed some guidelines to minimize the adverse effect of mobile phones.
