ABSTRACT To investigate the effect of partial correction of anemia in patients maintained by chronic intermittent hemodialysis on exercise capacity, patients underwent a bicycle acido-ergometry before and after treatment with recombinant human erythropoietin. The results demonstrate a (subjective) improvement of exercise capacity without any evidence for that in the pH values.
