Dataset: A new conceptual framework related to natural selection, sexual selection and cultural selection

    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: This article takes in consideration Darwinian conceptual framework which includes natural selection, sexual selection and cultural selection in analyzing mate choice. We have analyzed 618 individuals and 30% of them believe that mate choice is pure coincidence. On the other hand, 46.05% of a sum of 816 individuals consider appropriate the following concept: We love other people/other people loves us/ we get married to other people. In 363 individuals tested, 2/3 of them are married by interference of another, member of the family or otherwise. These data allow us to raise hypothetically questions about mate choice and mechanisms involving it. Coincidence and the interference of other people in mate choice are caused by cultural selection which acts upon cultural modules. On the contrary, natural selection and sexual selection acts upon non cultural modules which includes genetical modules, epigenetical modules and neuro-endocrine modules. In this context, natural and sexual modules acts solely on the modules mentioned above present on living organisms.

Dataset: The Modular Concept of Gene
    Zyri Bajrami
    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: In each living system it is common for a vital process to happen or for a function to be carried out; as a consequence, a module is formed. It happens when it encounters a stimulus or a need arises, when it establishes an effectors responding to the stimulus or the need, and when the connection between them is possible from a memory structure. Gene itself is a module: the gene is a fragment of nucleic acids, which in a particular type of module, labeled as a genetic module, play the part of a memory structure. It happens only with the modules for functions to be performed according to the information, which is carried by the memory structures. Moreover, it is revealed that under the definition of the gene based on the modular concept, the information, otherwise denoting that the genes are to be found with the royal throne of the current biological thought, is not the mere sequencing of the nucleic acids on the basis of which another molecule of nucleic acids is created, a string of peptides, etc., but that type of information inherent in every memory structure, as is the gene itself, according to which is realized each function of livings. Consequently, the amount of information in the living systems is measured on the basis of the probability of fulfillment of functions from the respective memory structures.

Article: A European project on health problems, mental disorders and cross-cultural aspects of developing effective rehabilitation procedures for refugee and immigrant youth.
    [show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: The present paper describes the conceptual framework, rationale and methods of an international comparative study on risk and protective factors of adolescent health and well-being, with particular focus on youth with immigrant (or refugee) experience. This is a comprehensive study on the quality of life and health outcomes of adolescent youth that looks at group-specific differences within different socio-cultural contexts across six European countries, including those of post-conflict communities. The research project combines both quantitative and qualitative methods, using a common set-up across all countries involved with the goal of collecting data on 3,500 adolescents that are strictly comparable to allow cross-country analyses. It is particularly aimed at increasing the understanding of acculturation processes of a particularly sensitive population of adolescent refugees and immigrants and of the influence that the interaction of contextual and developmental factors has on their mental health and psychological well-being.
