Although we still have a research interest in foodborne bacteria, these days we focus on Cronobacter. This ranges from primary isolation, phenotyping and genotyping, tissue culture, genomic and bioinformatic analysis. We published the genomes of all the species in the Cronobacter genus, and established the open access MLST scheme ( which is used by international collaborators. We have a DNA profile for the meningitic variety of C. sakazakii - ST4.
