ABSTRACT: Traffic noise measurement as well as social survey were conducted at different locations along the National Highway No.17 at Mangalore, India. Noise measurements were taken at 2 min and 5 min intervals. The measured data were analyzed in the form of L eq value. From the survey results, perception of the people and consequently the relationships between annoyances due to traffic noise and other variables were established among residents, general public and shop owners with the help of correlation analysis. Three prior models were constructed based on the strong correlation coefficient for different degree of annoyance for different parts of a day.NITK RESEARCH BULLETIN. 12/2012; 21(2):39-50.
