I received a Ph.D. in Experimental Pathology from the University of North Carolina in 1986, and was a postdoc with Dr. Charles Cantor, in Genetics at Columbia University from 1986-1989. I joined Los Alamos National Laboratory in 1989 to work on the human genome project, leading the chromosome 16 effort. After completion of the HGP I have focused my research efforts on various bio-detection projects funded by DHS or DTRA, and have been involved in other national security science efforts.
