Micheál D. Scanlon is a physical and analytical chemist who specializes in electrochemistry.

He is currently an SFI SIRG researcher in the Department of Chemistry at University College Cork (UCC) in Ireland.

His work involves using polarized liquid-liquid interfaces for novel approaches to energy conversion and storage, catalysis of energy related reactions, bioanalytical sensor and novel reflective mirror development. He also has interests in biofuel cell and biosensor development.
