Conference Proceeding: Data exchange between spectral databases
A. Hueni, M. Kneubuehler, M. Schaepman[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: Spectral ground data are one important asset in the provision of reliable imaging spectroscopy products by the application of Cal/Val procedures. These data should firstly be stored in an organised manner, documented by rich metadata, and secondly be exchangeable between database systems to enable data sharing between research groups. In this paper we present a solution of the exchange of spectral data collections including their full metadata context in normalised form. The presented methods were implemented in the SPECCHIO spectral database system and allow the operational data exchange between distributed SPECCHIO instances.Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2010 IEEE International; 08/2010 -

Conference Proceeding: Recent activities in the Hyperspectral Imaging Network (HYPER-I-NET): A European consortium fostering imaging spectroscopy research
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: The Hyperspectral Imaging Network (HYPER-I-NET) is a four-year Marie Curie Research Training Network project designed to build an interdisciplinary European research community focusing on hyperspectral imaging activities. The network is currently formed by a multidisciplinary team composed of fifteen highly experienced European partner organizations. In this paper, we outline the activities that have been carried out in the four main areas covered by HYPER-I-NET: 1) hyperspectral sensor specification, 2) processing chain definition and implementation, 3) calibration, validation and definition of standardization mechanisms, and 4) science applications. Along with the description of the progress made in the four main areas listed above, this paper also describes some of the training and transfer of knowledge activities carried out during the first two years of the project.Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium,2009 IEEE International,IGARSS 2009; 08/2009 -
Conference Proceeding: Visualisation, processing and storage of spectrodirectional data based on the spectral database SPECCHIO
[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: The correction of BRDF (bidirectional reflectance distribution function) effects in imaging spectrometer data requires object specific spectrodirectional information. Such data may be acquired using goniometer systems such as the dual-view Field Goniometer System (FIGOS). Their use in an operational processing environment requires optimized solutions for their storage, assessment, pre-processing and application in the actual correction procedure. The final goal is the provision of a spectral albedo product to the end user.Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium,2009 IEEE International,IGARSS 2009; 08/2009 -
Article: Structure, Components, and Interfaces of the Airborne Prism Experiment (APEX) Processing and Archiving Facility
A. Hueni, J. Biesemans, K. Meuleman, F. Dell'Endice, D. Schlapfer, D. Odermatt, M. Kneubuehler, S. Adriaensen, S. Kempenaers, J. Nieke, K.I. Itten[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: The product generation from hyperspectral sensor data has high requirements on the processing infrastructure, both hardware and software. The Airborne Prism Experiment (APEX) processing and archiving facility has been set up to provide for the automated generation of level-1 calibrated data and user-configurable on-demand product generation for higher processing levels. The system offers full reproducibility of user orders and processing parameters by employing a relational database. The flexible workflow software allows for the quick integration of novel algorithms or the definition of new processing sequences. Reprocessing of data is supported by the archiving approach. Configuration management based on the database enables the control over different versions of processing modules to be applied. The system is described with a focus on the APEX instrument; however, its generic design allows adaptation to other sensor systems.IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing 02/2009; · 2.89 Impact Factor
