I have been investigating the varied antimicrobial effects of Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) essential oil for more than 15 years. My research currently centres around identifying antimicrobial mechanisms or effects. This includes studying the impact of tea tree oil on microbial adhesion and biofilm development, investigation of potential bacterial stress or adaptive responses to tea tree oil and exploring the potential for bacterial resistance to arise against tea tree oil.
