Conference Proceeding: Back to Origin: Transformation of Business Process Models to Business Rules
Saleem Malik, Imran Sarwar Bajwa[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: A business process model should be explained to the business stakeholders to validate that it is a correct representation of targeted information of a particular domain. A business process model is typically represented by using a graphical notation such as Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN). A graphical representation of a business process model can be complex to understand for the business stakeholders. However, a business rule represented in a natural language can be easy to understand for a novel person. Moreover, the extracted business rules can be employed for reuse of information through mapping to other standards such as BPEL, OCL, etc. In this paper, we present a novel approach to automatically generate natural language representation of business process models explained in BPMN. The presented approach employs SBVR (Semantics of Business Vocabulary and Rules) as an intermediate representation to generate natural language expressions those are easy to understand for business stake holders.BPM 2012 Workshops, Tallinn, Estonia; 09/2012 -

Conference Proceeding: Generating OLAP Queries from Natural Language Specification
M Asif Naeem, Imran Sarwar Bajwa[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: Automatic translation of natural language (NL) questions to Structured Query Language (SQL) queries is a challenging task. It is a common knowledge that writing Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) queries for data warehouses is difficult, particularly, for the novice users. In this paper, we present a natural language processing based approach to automatically generate OLAP queries those can be used to communicate with the a data warehouse. In the presented approach, user provides queries in English and our approach process English queries and generate OLAP queries. In our approach, we incorporate OMG"s recent standard Semantic of Business Vocabulary and Business Rules (SBVR) to simplify the translation process of English to OLAP. SBVR is used in detailed semantic analysis of English queries. The presented approach is also implemented in Java as a prototype tool. To test the performance of the tool, an experimental study is also conducted. Results of the experimental study imply that our approach is capable in communicating with a data warehouse.International Conference on Advances in Computing, Communications and Informatics (ACCI-2012),, Chennai, India; 08/2012 -

Conference Proceeding: A Rule based Approach for Business Rule Generation from Business Process Models
Saleem Malik, Imran Sarwar Bajwa[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: In this paper, a rule based approach is presented to translate Business Process Model Notation (BPMN) based a business process models into Semantics of Business Vocabulary based Rules (SBVR) based business rules. Such translation can simplify the process of understanding the information represented in BPMN models for the business stakeholders as information represented in business rules is easy to understand instead of a BPMN based graphical representation of a business process model. In this paper, we also present a case study to validate the performance of the case study. The 6th International Symposium on Rules (RuleML 2012), Montpellier, France; 08/2012 -

Article: Services Based Management of Business Processes using Cloud Computing
Ahsan Ali Chaudhary, Imran Sarwar Bajwa[show abstract] [hide abstract]
ABSTRACT: Web services have caused a change in the business trends by providing an interface to gather business functions, data and its behaviour on a single universal computing platform. This platform can useful to sort out the problem with business process management as this technology is un-scalable and un-adaptive in nature. In this paper, a framework has been presented that is proposed to be deployed on a cloud computing platform that uses web services to flexibly manage the business processes.European Journal of Scientific Research 08/2012; 80(3):303-310.
