ABSTRACT: In a retrospective study of 54 eyes with persistent fetal vasculature (PFV), 34 eyes underwent pars plicata lensectomy and vitrectomy and 5 eyes has translimbal lensectomy and vitrectomy. Six of these eyes were inoperable. Fifteen eyes were managed nonsurgically. Measured outcomes were visual improvement and cosmetic acceptability. In 10 (30.3%) of 33 surgically treated eyes, vision improved. Statistically, no factor except sex and bilateral PFV (cosmetic unacceptability) could predict treatment results.Annals of Ophthalmology 04/2012; 35(1):28-37. · 0.16 Impact Factor -
Article: Outcomes of complex retinal detachment surgery after 1000 and 5000 centistoke silicone oil removals

ABSTRACT: In 82 eyes with complex retinal detachment requiring internal tamponade, 53 were filled with 5000-cs and 29 with 1000-cs silicone oil. Use of high-viscosity silicone oil (5000 cs) may be associated with a poorer anatomic and functional outcome compared with lower viscosity silicone oil (1000 cs).Annals of Ophthalmology 04/2012; 37(4):253-258. · 0.16 Impact Factor
